All aboard for Team Dolly's Imagination Library

Fueled by a core group of WSU Library System employees, Team Dolly is the local affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL), a worldwide organization that provides one free book each month to registered children ages 0-5. Introducing an early love of reading, the Imagination Library gifts children their own personal libraries prior to beginning their K-12 careers. As indicated in its namesake, the Imagination Library was created by none other than Dolly Parton herself in 1995. Launching WSU’s DPIL in July 2020, Team Dolly is excited to be fast approaching the “first birthday” of its local affiliate chapter. Currently, any child living in Detroit’s zip codes 48201 or 48202 is eligible to register and receive one free book every month until their fifth birthday. By incorporating additional zip codes as the project moves along, Team Dolly is working to expand the Imagination Library to the entire city of Detroit, and ultimately coordinate with other affiliates to bring the Imagination Library to the greater state of Michigan.
